Photographs of Whitney Museum at three locations in Manhattan. Photographs depict galleries, office, and exterior structure, as well as apartments owned by Museum. Photographs depict works of art by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, a memorial exhibition, and portraits of Mrs. Whitney and her family. Other photographs of Juliana Force and museum staff, trustees, and volunteers. Photographs show exhibition openings, special events, dedication ceremonies and opening of present museum building, special programs and performances. Photographs of selected works from the permanent collection and several exhibitions, 1932-1983; and exhibition installation photographs, 1928-1981. Also, photographs of the Armory Show, first large-scale introduction of modern art to the general public in the United States, 1913. Some photographs are identified. Architectural renderings are included in collection.
